New Data Exposes Changing Landscape for MBA Cohort & Global Business

Global business has changed significantly since the recession, which is directly seen in the expectations and aspirations of today’s MBAs. With changing demographics, financial realities and changed interests, MBA applicants trend towards a more open perspective on possibilities, whilst also maintaining pragmatic views on what can actually be achieved.

The ‘QS TopMBA.com Applicant Survey 2014’, compiled by QS, the world’s leading higher and business education specialists, traces changes in interest, goals, and expectations of 2014 survey responses, drawing upon over 20 years of such MBA survey collection to provide concise insight into the modern MBA cohort.

Major Changes In 2014:

  • Increased reliance on scholarships and increased loan reluctance;

  • Lowered salary expectations for the second consecutive year;

  • Greater proportion of female applicants and female desire to start businesses;

  • Increase in applications from technology sector; and

  • Increased age of applicants in five of six regions.
